30 July, KATHMANDU : The Gunla festival is specially celebrated in the Kathmandu Valley and elsewhere with the Newar community. This holiday is celebrated in Buddhist families. Since the Buddha’s disciples do not travel or stay in one place during the rainy season, this festival is also considered a meeting between the rainy season and knowledge.
Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah also attended the first day of the festival.
